Splendor is a quick and captivating game of chip collection and card development, where players step into the role of Renaissance merchants. Your goal is to acquire gem mines, transportation methods, and shops to amass the most prestige points. If you accumulate enough wealth, a visit from a noble could boost your prestige even further.
During your turn, you can choose to: (1) collect chips (gems), (2) buy and develop a card, or (3) reserve a card. When collecting chips, you can either take three different types or two of the same kind. To buy a card, simply pay its cost in chips and add it to your play area. Reserving a card allows you to secure it for future use, preventing your opponents from acquiring it. Although this action costs a turn, you gain a gold token—a wildcard chip that can substitute for any gem.
As you buy cards, they enhance your wealth by providing permanent gem bonuses, making future purchases easier. Some cards also offer prestige points, bringing you closer to victory. To win, be the first to reach 15 prestige points.
